Jorge Alberto is a gifted, multi-faceted artist with a strong passion for realism. His paintings represent a rich culmination of classical influences resulting from his studies of both Renaissance and Baroque styles. A strong sense of mystery and drama are at once apparent in his paintings.

"My paintings spring from a life long fascination with lighting and how light affects mood. This fascination, present even in my earliest memories, has greatly influenced my way of seeing and how I choose to express it. I take inspiration from the 17th century painters, like Caravaggio, Velázquez and Ribera, emulating the strong use of lighting contrast so evident on the work of these masters."

Born in Cuba in 1949 Jorge Alberto immigrated to the United States with his family in 1965. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The School of Visual Arts in New York City in 1975. An accomplished, award winning graphic designer for sixteen years, he has also worked extensively in scenic design, make-up and set styling for the theater and TV and film industry. His true passion for the Fine Arts caused him to seek out fine painting instruction at the world renowned Schuler School of Fine Arts in Baltimore, where he studied for four years. To further his studies and to observe at first hand the work of the masters of the Renaissance, Jorge Alberto spent an additional year of study in Italy at John Angel's Studio. While in Italy, he took full advantage of the extensive art collection of Europe visiting its museums, galleries and private collections. His diverse involvement in the various aspects of the art world is characteristic of the Renaissance masters whom he admires so much. His paintings are owned by collectors throughout the United States and abroad.
