David Buckley Good was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1952. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Bowling Green State University in 1975 and moved to Arlington, Virginia where he began his career as a fine artist. He was a resident artist in the Arlington Art Center from 1976 until 1978 when he was awarded a grant from a Canadian foundation, allowing him to move to New York City to study painting at the Art Student's League. David lived, worked and exhibited in the New York area until 1986 when he moved to Baltimore Maryland, where he currently resides.

In 1987 David met Ann Didusch Schuler, co-founder of The Schuler School of Fine Art in Baltimore and Mr. Maroger's painting assistant at the Maryland Institute - College of Art from 1941 until Maroger's death in 1962. David's association with The Schuler School rekindled his interest in realist painting. Already an accomplished modern painter, David enrolled in The Schuler School, using its rigorous classical training to make a complete conversion from surrealist to realist painting. He graduated from The Schuler School in 1998 and has taught several workshops in alla prima painting techniques at the School. In September of 1998, David was accepted as a member of the Oil Painters of America.
