RAOUL MIDDLEMAN

Painting is like breathing for Raoul Middleman - and probably more important. He remains irrepressibly enthusiastic about his art. He's been painting for nearly half a century now and each new canvas seems as fresh and bright as the first. He clearly loves the sensuousity of brushing oil on canvases.

Middleman explores the whole range of the painter's art: landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, portraits, still lifes, murals and bravura narrative paintings as boisterous as opera bouffe. The binding thread is the sheer joy and pleasure he finds in drawing, paint and color.
